Apprenticeship and traineeship incentives in Victoria
The Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program
The Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program aims to create a more skilled Australian workforce that provides ongoing long-term benefits for Australia and the nation’s international competitiveness.
The program encourages employers to create genuine opportunities for skills-based training, by granting Government financial incentives to employers who offer apprenticeships and traineeships to adults, school-leavers and school-based apprentices. The Government also funds personal benefits for apprentices to encourage them to remain at work and complete their apprenticeship
The apprenticeships incentive program contains a variety of incentives and personal benefits, including:
- standard incentives
- special benefits where the apprentice is undertaking a apprenticeship leading to an occupation listed as a national skills shortage
- support for adult apprentices and support for apprentices with disability – see the financial support section for more information
Incentives and personal benefits payments are subject to employers and apprentices satisfying eligibility criteria as set out in the Government’s apprenticeships incentive program guidelines. Visit the Australian Apprenticeships website for more information, or go straight to its employer incentives page.
