Lachlan Simpkin has been a carpentry apprentice with Victorian Group Training since 2010.
Lachie’s Host Employer and father, Ian Simpkin has hosted him for the entire duration.

Lachie commenced his apprenticeship as a school-based apprentice and rolled into full-time work on completion of year 12 at Trinity College in Colac.

The trade school component of Lachie’s apprenticeship was completed at the Gordon TAFE in Geelong where he demonstrated a good attitude and behaviour as well as progressing through work very well.

Lachie said “being a school-based apprentice was a great way for me to start my career as a builder – once year 12 was completed I was ready to go full-time.

Victorian Group Training have been fantastic throughout my whole apprenticeship. Vealey, Gemma and the rest of the guys have been great to me.

Ian (Lachie’s father) has been a great teacher for me. His patience and knowledge of the building game is something I will be always grateful for.

I hope to continue working for Ian Simpkin Builders for as long as I can, and who knows where this job may take me.”

The team at VGTC would like to congratulate Lachie on such a fantastic achievement in completing his apprenticeship.  Through hard work, persistence and a passion for the industry – it has paid off.  Well done!
