Mock Apprenticeship Interviews

May 6, 2015

Victorian Group Training’s Lochlan Veale and Gemma Middleton once again attended the annual year 11 Mock Apprenticeship Interviews at Camperdown Mercy Regional College this week.

Mock Interviews - Camperdown MRC

Yr 11 student Paddy Bourke, Gemma Middleton and Lochlan Veale

Lochie and Gemma acted as mock interviewers for certain apprenticeship positions where students has ‘applied’ to work.  This year, Lochie and Gemma interviewed students for Automotive and Electrical Apprenticeship positions.

Students were required to compile an application letter and resume in response to a mock job advertisement and then go through the motions of a normal job interview process.  This involved dressing appropriately, arriving on time and answering questions the interviewers asked of them.

The interviewers would then provide constructive feedback to the student on their interview performance and documentation.  Feedback included hints and tips on how to improve their application letter and resume, touching on things such as grammar, spelling and layout. Interview performance feedback consisted of things such as maintaining eye contact, fidgeting, and expanding on responses.

Lochie and Gemma found that the students were well prepared and showed a high level of quality in all aspects of the interview process.

Well done to all the students on such a great effort!
